Appliance Analysis Findings - Newsletter

September 2008

Did you see the exploding oven on WCCO last week? (http://wcco.com/consumer/glass.oven.doo r.2.820937.html). It was frightening. The glass window in an oven in a suburban home in the Twin Cities area exploded. Luckily no one was hurt.

We wanted to draw your attention to the story for two reasons. First, this is a reminder that self cleaning ovens should never be cleaned with abrasive detergents. (The homeowner in this story had simply wiped the window clean with a paper towel.) You can see what happens.

Second, this is the type of case where we can go in and help you determine what has happened when an appliance has possibly malfunctioned. We can help determine if the cause is user error, a default in the actual appliance or an external source. We help determine causality and liability and can make a big difference to homeowners and insurance companies.
